Description

Tender beef short ribs slow-cooked in a crockpot for a rich, flavorful dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Brown the short ribs on all sides, then transfer to the crockpot.
  2. In the same pan, sauté onions and garlic until softened. Add to the crockpot.
  3. Mix beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and thyme. Pour over the ribs.
  4. Add the bay leaf and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Remove the bay leaf before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sear the ribs well before slow cooking.
  • If the sauce is too thin, thicken it with a cornstarch slurry.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
