Description

Homemade strawberry fruit leather, a healthy and delicious snack made with fresh strawberries and a touch of lemon juice. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for on-the-go.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the lowest setting, typically around 170°F (77°C), or use a dehydrator set to 135°F (57°C).
  2. Wash and hull the strawberries.
  3. Combine the strawberries and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pour the strawberry puree onto the lined baking sheet, spreading it evenly to about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. For a dehydrator, spread the puree onto a dehydrator sheet.
  5. Bake in the oven for 3-5 hours, or dehydrate for 6-10 hours, until the fruit leather is no longer sticky and is pliable. The exact time will depend on your oven/dehydrator and the thickness of your puree.
  6. Once cooled, peel the fruit leather from the parchment paper or silicone mat.
  7. Cut into strips or shapes and roll them up for storage.

Notes

  • Ensure the fruit puree is spread evenly for consistent drying.
  • Store fruit leather in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • You can experiment with other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or peaches.
  • Add a touch of honey or maple syrup if your strawberries are not sweet enough, but this will increase the sugar content.
