Description
Homemade strawberry fruit leather, a healthy and delicious snack made with fresh strawberries and a touch of lemon juice. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for on-the-go.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to the lowest setting, typically around 170°F (77°C), or use a dehydrator set to 135°F (57°C).
- Wash and hull the strawberries.
- Combine the strawberries and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pour the strawberry puree onto the lined baking sheet, spreading it evenly to about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. For a dehydrator, spread the puree onto a dehydrator sheet.
- Bake in the oven for 3-5 hours, or dehydrate for 6-10 hours, until the fruit leather is no longer sticky and is pliable. The exact time will depend on your oven/dehydrator and the thickness of your puree.
- Once cooled, peel the fruit leather from the parchment paper or silicone mat.
- Cut into strips or shapes and roll them up for storage.
Notes
- Ensure the fruit puree is spread evenly for consistent drying.
- Store fruit leather in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
- You can experiment with other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or peaches.
- Add a touch of honey or maple syrup if your strawberries are not sweet enough, but this will increase the sugar content.
