Description

A delightful French dessert, Strawberry Clafoutis features fresh strawberries baked in a rich, custardy batter, creating a comforting and elegant treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, plus more for greasing
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus 1 tablespoon for sprinkling
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or oven-safe skillet with butter.
  2. Arrange the halved strawberries evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and eggs until well combined.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, flour, vanilla extract, and salt until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  5. Pour the batter over the strawberries in the dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar over the top of the clafoutis.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the clafoutis is golden brown and set in the center. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
  8. Let the clafoutis cool slightly before serving. It can be served warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe and flavorful strawberries.
  • You can substitute other fruits like cherries, blueberries, or peaches.
  • A dusting of powdered sugar before serving is a nice touch.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
