A simple and quick recipe for making delicious homemade butter chicken with tender chicken pieces in a rich, creamy tomato sauce.

- 500g boneless chicken, cut into cubes
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 400g tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate chicken with yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat butter in a pan, add chopped onions, and sauté until golden.
- Add marinated chicken and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour in heavy cream and sprinkle garam masala. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Adjust chili powder for preferred spice level.
- For a richer flavor, grill marinated chicken before adding to the sauce.
- Serve with naan or steamed rice.
