Description

Magic Cookie Bars, also known as 7-Layer Bars, are a dessert made with a graham cracker crust and topped with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, pecans, and sweetened condensed milk.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 1/3 cups shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine melted butter and graham cracker crumbs. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the crust.
  4. Sprinkle the butterscotch chips over the chocolate chips.
  5. Evenly distribute the shredded coconut over the chips.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the coconut.
  7. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the entire pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For easier cutting, chill the bars in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • You can customize these bars with other toppings like white chocolate chips, M&M’s, or walnuts.
