Description

Refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade, perfect for a hot day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 45 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices and whole strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the quartered strawberries with 1/4 cup of the sugar. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove seeds and pulp. Press down on the solids to extract all the juice.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice and the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar to the pitcher. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Pour in the cold water and stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired by adding more sugar or lemon juice.
  6. Serve over ice with lemon slices and whole strawberries for garnish, if using.

Notes

  • For a less sweet lemonade, reduce the amount of sugar to 1/2 cup initially and add more to taste.
  • To make a sparkling lemonade, replace some or all of the cold water with sparkling water or club soda.
  • This lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
