Description
Refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade, perfect for a hot day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–5 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and whole strawberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the quartered strawberries with 1/4 cup of the sugar. Blend until smooth.
- Strain the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove seeds and pulp. Press down on the solids to extract all the juice.
- Add the fresh lemon juice and the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar to the pitcher. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Pour in the cold water and stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired by adding more sugar or lemon juice.
- Serve over ice with lemon slices and whole strawberries for garnish, if using.
Notes
- For a less sweet lemonade, reduce the amount of sugar to 1/2 cup initially and add more to taste.
- To make a sparkling lemonade, replace some or all of the cold water with sparkling water or club soda.
- This lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
