Description

A creamy and cheesy potato dish layered with caramelized onions inspired by French onion soup.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Melt butter in a pan and caramelize onions over medium heat for 15 minutes.
  3. Layer half the potatoes in a baking dish.
  4. Spread caramelized onions over the potatoes.
  5. Top with remaining potatoes.
  6. Pour heavy cream evenly over the layers.
  7. Sprinkle cheese, salt, pepper, and thyme on top.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use mandoline slicer for even potato slices.
