Description
Crispy Smashed Broccoli with Balsamic & Parmesan is a flavorful side dish. It features tender broccoli florets smashed and roasted until crispy, then tossed with a tangy balsamic glaze and savory Parmesan cheese. This recipe is simple to make and perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds broccoli florets, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Spread the seasoned broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Roast for 15 minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Using the bottom of a glass or a potato masher, gently smash each broccoli floret until flattened but still intact.
- Return the smashed broccoli to the oven and roast for another 15-20 minutes, or until deeply golden brown and crispy.
- While the broccoli roasts, whisk together the balsamic vinegar and maple syrup (or honey) in a small bowl.
- Once the broccoli is out of the oven, drizzle it with the balsamic glaze and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Toss gently to combine and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, ensure the broccoli is spread in a single layer without overcrowding the baking sheet.
- Adjust the amount of balsamic glaze and Parmesan cheese to your preference.
- This dish is best served fresh.
