Description

Creamy garlic butter shrimp pasta is a delightful dish featuring succulent shrimp bathed in a rich, velvety garlic butter sauce, all tossed with al dente pasta. It is a quick and satisfying meal perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces (225g) pasta (linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Add the cooked pasta and shrimp to the skillet. Toss to coat everything evenly in the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Stir in fresh parsley.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your creamy garlic butter shrimp pasta.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • You can substitute other types of pasta like penne or farfalle.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese melts better and has a superior flavor.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp, as it can become tough.
